Beware the moops

After starting this site, I am coming across more and more cool tshirt vendors.  www.oddica.com is one such site and has some very cool tees on offer.

I love this shirt (called Moops vs Wolf if you were wondering where the post title came from), which is $20 (or two tees for $34, $16 each for three or more) and also comes as a hoodie for $40.

Moops vs Wolf

The Birds

I know this is my third designbyhumans post in as many days, but I can’t help but post about this tshirt.

I have always loved Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds - it scared the shit out of me as a kid, but I have since grown to love the film for other reasons.

This shirt instantly says “The Birds” to me and brings back so many memories.  It’s already winging its way across the pond to me.

The Birds

Dynamic tees

I have seen these posted in a few places recently, but they are so cool I had to write about them too.

How cool is that?  For me, they are a bit too cheesy, but the ‘technology’ behind them is awesome.

Here’s another very cool shirt:

Yup, it really does indicate the wi-fi strength in your proximity.  How does it work?  Fecked if I know, but I do know that it’s very cool.  More reasonably priced than you’d think too - the wi-fi shirt is $29.99 and the hearts pair are $62 in total (two shirts at $25 each, and a transmitter pack at $12).

ThinkGeek has a number of other, non-moving, shirts.  Check them out.

Fuck Idaho

New from t-shirt hell this week is this shirt:

Fuck Idaho

Not being an American I have no idea why they would pick on Idaho in particular, but it’s a very funny shirt nonetheless.  It’d be great if you could pick your state - but I guess a goliath like t-shirt hell isn’t set up that way.

Stay Human

Today’s designbyhuman shirt is a belter, I instantly loved it when I saw it earlier this morning.

Stay Human

The designer, tan-k, says:

this is what happens when you hold back on life and everything it has to offer. It is a cool looking growth though.

Whatever it means, it’s quirky, the size and placement rock, and it will be mine … oh yes, it will be mine.

The migrant

One of my favourite sites for tshirts is designbyhumans.com - which works on a similar basis to threadless, ie the designs are mostly user submissions which are then voted on by other users.  The result is a tshirt of the day, which can become tshirt of the week and tshirt of the month.  At each stage the designer gets wads of cash (I think I’ll do a separate post about the amount of money designers can earn on these sites.

Anyway, one of the advantages I feel DBH has is that it uses multiple printing mediums, such as using gold leaf and texture for this fantastic tee:

Migrant

And their prices are reasonable - slightly higher than Threadless at $19 versus $15, but great value.

Robot porno

Robot XXX

I love this shirt from Go Ape!  I don’t think I even need to explain because once you think about it, it will hopefully make you chuckle like it did me.  Definitely going straight on my ‘Wishlist’!

ET gone home

This is another Go Ape shirt that I like a lot - may have to put that one in the cart too when I place my order!

Go Ape have some cool shirts.  The site and tee designs remind me somewhat of Threadless’ style, but that’s no bad thing (considering how many Threadless tees I have!).

Exclusive tenbills shirt

 See Hear Speak

tenbills has a new exclusive shirt, available today only and for Woot members only.  An interesting approach and for me, a great marketing tactic.  It’s sure to create a bit of a buzz around the site and a tie in with woot.com means a huge audience.  If you love the tee and aren’t a member, it’s simple to sign up.

The design itself is a nice take on the classic Hear See Speak no evil.  I think it’s pretty cool but doesn’t instantly make me grab my wallet  …

[this item was spotted on tcritic, one of the many tshirt blogs on the ‘net, but probably one of the few most recognised.]

tshirt hell - love or loathe?

T-Shirt Hell is probably the most controversial clothing store online today.  It is a massive site and I am sure it takes a hell of a lot of money each day.  But visitors either love the shirts, or a repulsed by them.  The owner’s newletter each week takes great pride in displaying some of the ‘hate mail’ he recieves from people who take offense.  And some of the shirts are very offensive.

So where do I sit?  Well, the fact that I’ve linked to the site is a clue.  I am one of those people who see the shirts and find them extremely funny (on the whole), but would never wear one.  Some of them are just fantastic, harmless humour.  Some are borderline offensive but funny.  Some are just ’sick’, and some are just downright intentionally controversial.  I’d wear the first two categories, but not the third or fourth.

A shirt from the first category, harmless humour:

NY

One from category two:

Colour

Category three:

Tight

And the fourth:

Mo

So there you have it, the ‘best’ and ‘worst’ of T-Shirt Hell.  I can see the humour in all of these, even the third and fourth - but would I produce these tshirts?  No.  Would I wear them?  No.  However, I am quite anti-censorship and so if you are so inclined to buy and wear such shirts, please go right ahead.

Let’s blow this joint

You know the great thing about starting a new tshirt blog is that I have my pick of cool tees to post about!  All those established blogs that have been around for years have to find new stuff to write about - not me!

Not that this is an ancient tee, but I am sure it’s been out for a while.  But I think it’s great.

Fly

The shirt is by tenbills, a site that sells some awesome designs for, you guessed it, just ten bucks.  They also do long sleeved shirts and hoodies, and have several ’series’ of shirts - an interesting concept.
